Go barefoot for charity this weekend as Pinefest Ambassador entrants Georgia Peacock and Tennielle Healy aim to raise money for their chosen charities through the fun of barefoot bowls.

Locals and visitors alike can help their work by registering a team of four and enjoying an afternoon of bowling barefoot on the greens at Yeppoon Bowls Club on Sunday 20 August. No experience is necessary and there will be coaches present to help with rules of the game and tips for playing.

Pinefest Ambassador entrant Tennielle Healy said it is a great opportunity for people to support local charities.

“I have chosen to raise money for local victims of domestic violence in order to help them settle into their new lives,” Ms Healy said

“Plus half of the money we raise goes to Lions Yeppoon who do a lot of work helping the local community.”

Tickets are $100 for a team of four including lunch and a drink each and all proceeds go towards charities. There will be prizes for best dressed teams with the theme for this year being purple and blue.

Both Tennielle and Georgia are sponsored by Keppel Bay Sailing Club in the Pinefest Ambassador Quest this year. KBSC manager Julie Strudwick said they have many fundraising events planned over the next two months.

“Georgia has chosen to support prostate cancer research as she has seen customers and others in her life affected by the disease,” Ms Strudwick said.

“It’s fabulous to see our staff showing such compassion and actively wanting to make a difference in the community.”

Anyone 12 and over can participate in barefoot bowls and tickets to this Sunday’s event can be purchased from Keppel Bay Sailing Club on 4939 9585.
